Preview 20/21 October

A week before the RTTC National hill climb Championship most of the would-be medal contenders are in action. Defending champion Gunnar Gronlund (RST RTTrigon) rides Sunday’s Chesterfield Coureurs event where he chases a repeat win. Mark Lovatt (Planet X) is among the opposition.

Bronze medallist last year, former champion Matt Clinton (Mike Vaughan Cycles) is in action in the Matlock CC double header on the Bank and Riber hills where Lee he Baldwin (Buxton CC) provides the main challenge.

Tejvan Pettinger (Sri Chinmoy RT) rides Saturday’s Nelson Wheelers hill climb and then heads for Sunday’s North Lancashire RC event where a cattle grid and the odd sheep could be problems, but he overcame this last season to win.

The Yorkshire RC promotion looks the one to ride; each starter will receive a bottle of beer brewed by the Little Valley Brewery (to be drunk after you’ve ridden!). James Coleman (Witham Wheelers) and Sam Ward (Buxton CC) are among the competitors. Coleman also rides the Huddersfield RC event.

Peter Tadros (In Gear Quickvit-Trainsharp) is down for the ESCA hill climb as is Tim Bayley (Arctic-SRAM) and Sean Yates’s son Liam. Bayley’s teammate Robert Gough goes for the Bristol South CC event.
