Worlds for Hutch

Michael Hutchinson (In Gear Quickvit Trainsharp) hopes to cash in on his current record breaking form following his selection for the Elite riders World Time Trial championship on September 18.

Hutchinson’s selection was confirmed by Cycling Ireland along with that of Ryan Mullen, the National Junior 10 and 25-mile champion, who rides the Junior’s 26.6 kilometres event on September 17. Ireland will be represented in the Women’s time trial by Olivia Dillon, who has spent the last few seasons racing for a US team.

Hutchinson last weekend broke the 25-mile competition record, set in 2009 by Ireland’s David McCann, 45-54, by eight seconds bringing it down to 45-46.

“I’ve been trying for the record for about 10 years on and off so it was about time. I did a short `46` back in 2002 so I was within shouting distance back then, “ Hutchinson said.

In August Hutchinson also improved on the `10` record bringing it down to 17-45
