National 100-mile champion Matthew Bottrill (drag2zero) was back on form at the weekend taking the Derby Mercury RC `25` with a 47-23, nine seconds faster than his 2011 winning time.

Simon Wilson (Metaltek-Scott) was 49 seconds behind Bottrill while his drag2zero teammate Jeff Jones filled third spot with 48-42. Lynn Hamel (Herbalife Leisure Lakes Bikes) was fastest of the women with her 55-09. Event secretary Mark Gray tells us 60% of the field managed 2012 PBs.

James Gilfillan (Contre La Montre) won the North Hampshire RC `25`, a 51-04 putting him exactly 1-00 clear of Simon Trout (VC St Raphael). Former multi-champion Richard Prebble (Node 4-Giordana RT) claimed third with 51-09. VC St Raphael’s Leslie-Ann Walkling was best of the women with 59-16 ahead of Jody Conibear (Hemel Hempstead CC), 1-01-52, and Tina Reid (Twickenham CC), 1-02-03.

Cambridge CC `25` saw a runaway victory go to Jason Boutell (Team Velocity), his 55-02 leaving 2-47 in hand over the promoting club’s David McGraw. Third placed Paul Smith (Chelmer CC) was at 4-08. Juliet Vickery (Cambridge CC), 1-15-13 was first woman.

Peter Balls (West Suffolk Wheelers) topped the leader board in the CC Breckland `30` with a 1-03-24, 16 seconds ahead of Daniel Bloy (Kings Lynn CC). Laura Gambling (CC Breckland) clocked 1-15-31, first of the women.

The Congleton CC `50`finished with Manchester Wheelers’ (Charles Taylor (South Pennine RC) was 28 seconds slower in second spot. Viv Slack completed the Wheelers’ success taking the woman’s award with a 2-09-45.

The Welsh 10-mile Championships had a good entry of over 100 in the senior event. Honours went to Kieron Davies (Bynea CC), 19-08, Ben Anstie (Cadance RT), 19-39, and Luke Dix (Cardiff JIF), 19-44.  In the women’s event Rebecca Aicheler (Castle Bikes), 23-35, was fastest, 30 seconds up on Rebecca Timothy (Retro Racing). The junior’s battle was a lot closer with just three seconds between Scott Davies (M&D Kinetica), 20-25, and Tom Ward (Team Echelon), 20-28.

Nik Bowdler (Team Pedal Revolution) notched up an impressive win in the Eastern Counties CA `12`with a total of 300.4 miles, 22 miles more than second placed Anthony Stapleton (Chelmer CC). Joel Wainman (Team Swift) claimed third place with 277.2 miles.
