RTTC Championship 50's - Event Preview

Fresh from his success in Ireland Michael Hutchinson (In Gear Quickvit-Trainsharp) goes for his 13th successive National 50-mile title on Sunday on the A30 at Roche, near St Austell, Cornwall.

As usual the main opposition comes from drag2zero’s Matthew Bottrill with his teammates Jeff Jones and Mark Holton, High Wycombe CC’s Adam Topham, Stephen Whitewick (Contre La Montre), Jerone Walters (VC St Raphael) and Matt Sinclair (Lutterworth Cycle Centre) in the mix for the final podium place.

It is an early morning start for the men, 7am, with Bottrill off at 8.10am and Hutchinson last away at 8.16am.

The ladies have the pleasure of a Saturday evening start, 5pm, with 31 listed for the championship. Defending champion Julia Shaw (drag2zero) goes for her eighth title at the distance. Runner-up in 2011, Rebecca Slack (London Dynamo-Prologue) should repeat that performance while Christine McLean (Shetland Wheelers), Michelle Parsons (Team Echelon-Rotor), Jenny Lloyd-Jones (London Dynamo) and Bronwen Ewing (PM Racing) could be contesting that third place medal.

Both events are based at Roche Victory Hall Social Club, Victoria Road, Roche, with the promotion in the capable hands of Camel Valley Cycling & Triathlon Club.
