RTTC CLASSIC SERIES ROUND 4

CLASSIC SERIES HITS LAKES

With the season well into its stride the RTTC Classic Series of time trials come thick and fast. One week after the Beacon RCC promotion in Worcestershire the Series heads for the Lake District on Sunday for the North DC Committee promotion, on the Bassenthwaite Lake circuit.

Neither of last week's winners, Matthew Bottrill (drag2zero) and Emily Robertson (CC Luton), both current overall leaders of the TT Series, don't ride this time so the way is open others to shine.

WILLIAMS FAVOURITE

In the Men and Espoirs 31-mile event, two laps of the lake, Joshua Williams (Revolutions Racing) looks favourite having finished twice in second place behind Bottrill in previous rounds. Mark Holton (drag2zero), Dean Robson (Cheltenham & County CC), Scott Walker (MG Decor Carbon Bikes) and Espoirs Christopher Fennell (Banks-Catford CC Equipe), Jonathan Wears (Team Jewson-MI Racing) and Jack O'Neil (Mike Vaughan Cycles) provide the main opposition.

A STRING OF PEARLS

The Women's 15-mile event looks like being a re-run of Round 2 when the Pearl Izumi Sports Tour International BOBC squad provided the podium trio with Katie Archibald, Sarah Storey and Ciara Horne. They are supported by another six club mates, including Joanna Rowsell and Anna Turvey.  Looking to provide a challenge are Jo Blackburn (Team Swift) and Team Giordana with four riders including the tallented all rounder Junior Abby Mae Parkinson. In last year's event Storey won ahead of Turvey and Archibald.

The Junior's event has Nicholas Cooper (Rossendale RC), winner of the first two legs, meeting Ryan Kenworthy (LeisureLakesBikes) last week's winner. They face one lap of Bassenthwaite Lake.

PARACYCLISTS IN STRENGTH

The event has the biggest entry so far this year for the Paracyclists' event with 12 entered including  Adrian Jones (PH-MAS Cycling), winner of the Beacon RCC round, Rik Waddon (Para T), Nicholas Fairfield (City RC Hull), David Murphy (Liverpool Mercury Dolan CC) and Jaco Van Gass (GS Henley).

RAMSBOTTOM BACK ON FAMILIAR GROUND

Julian Ramsbottom (Pedal Pushers) will be looking for a better conclusion to the day after going off course in the Beacon RCC event for Veterans. Challenging  Ramsbottom this time should be Mark Turnbull (Torque Performance), second in last week's event, Simon Coates (Cleveland Wheelers), Darryl May (Sheffrec CC) and Craig Horseman (Rock and Roll Cycles) among others The ever present Peter Greenwood (Team SWift) will be on hand defending his current lead in the Target Time competition. Last year Ramsbottom covered the 15 miles in 33-41 to win.
